The United States Holocaust Museum

We will be visiting the United States Holocaust Museum while we are in Washington, DC.  Please view the upcoming special exhibits and the permanent exhibits.  Choose two things that you think are interesting and want to see while you are in the museum..  In your comment-
1.  Identify the exhibit or topic with a title
2.  Explain what it is and why you are interested in it
3.  Create a hyperlink to the description of the exhibit.

Example:
The Final Solution
I am interested in visiting the floor titled The Final Solution of the museum because of reading Night and Elie Wiesel's experience in Auschwitz.  I would like to learn more about the concentration camps. There is a section on Anne Frank that I want to see as well. I am especially interested in watching the video called Voices of Auschwitz.

  1. The Final Solution
I am interested in visiting The Final Solution floor of the museum because of the Anne Frank exhibit, and the tour of a barrack. You can see from the picture a real life version of a barrack from one of the concentration camps. I have always wanted to see one myself, and see how the people who stayed in them felt. I also really wanted to see the Anne Frank exhibit. I have always wanted to learn more about her experience after her novel/diary. I am really interested in this floor also because of the book we are reading, "Night" by Elie Wiesel. I wanted to see what he felt like as well, having survived and gone through the whole experience. I am very interested in the Holocaust, and how human beings could be so cruel. I always believed that there was always good in everyone, but now I'm not so sure. The whole experience will be amazing, and I am happy to have the privilege to see what these people have gone through.

  2. Nazi Assault
I am excited to visit the first floor which features the Nazi Assault Exhibit. I want to see it because I want to know more about how the germans agreed with Hitler and how he came to power during world war two. I also want to see some stories about people's lives there and how it went during the Nuremberg laws and Kristallnacht. I also want to learn about new events I haven’t learned yet like the VOyage of St. Lewis and the Invasion of Poland. I can already tell it will all be very fun and informational which will be great. It is a good time to go to the Holocaust Memorial Museum because we are learning about it right now.

  3. "I Want Justice!"
I am very curious about "I Want Justice!" on the second floor because it talks about how those who were involved during the genocide of not only the jews but ethnicity groups got held accountable for helping during the mass killing of people. This interested me because I wondered what happened to the Nazis ad others who stood besides Hitler during the Holocaust. The place were it will talk and give information about what would happen to the bad people will be more in depth at the "I want Justice!" area. This is important because many people are seeking justice to be served and that the people on the opposite side should get in trouble and have consequences.

  4. Remember the Children

I am most interested to see the exhibit, Remember the children. The journey you take tells the story of one family’s experiences during the Holocaust from the perspective of a boy growing up in Nazi Germany. Visitors then enter real environments where they can touch, and listen to Daniel’s world as it changes during the Holocaust. I am curious to know what they thought before they knew they were going to die. That might sound bad but what was going through their minds is the question I want to ask any Holocaust survivor if I ever meet one. This exhibit might be a little creepy, and scary, because we know what is going to happen next, and he didn't. It is on the first floor.

  5. Some Were Neighbors

I am most interested to see the exhibit, Some Were Neighbors. It talks and try's to answer the question, How was the Holocaust possible? It talks about things that I find interesting like how things like fear, indifference, anti-Semitism, peer pressure influenced the decision making of everyone, the Nazis, Jews, etc. I like the idea of how the exhibit addresses that question because I think that's one of the most important thing someone would ask is how? How could someone be able to nearly wipe a group of 6 million or so people off the planet, that to me is something I think will remain a mystery. I how the exhibit talks about Hitler who was a key aspect in the holocaust and it talks about how people act. And the idea of how these things like peer pressure fear and other things can make people change how they act in a matter of seconds. I really am looking forward to seeing it( not in a bad way) but to learn about what happened and it is located on the first floor.

  6. Genocide: The Threat Continues

I think the exhibit I am most interested in is not a permanent one, but an upcoming special event. It is Genocide: The Threat Continues that is located on the second floor. In this exhibit it talks about the prevention of genocide and to bring attention to people that there are areas and people that a genocide could happen to. When I first read the title I thought maybe it will have something about black people and all the recent events and that if they think it is possible for them. When I read the information in it and it talked about Syria and the deadly conflicts. I am really interested in this exhibit, because it is really important that the world is aware of this, because when the Holocaust happened many people were very unaware, almost the whole world and the Holocaust was a very awful time in history. It would be awful if it happened again to another race, and in some parts of the world it is. I am excited to see this exhibit, because I am really, really looking forward to this event.

  7. Remember The Children
The exhibit I chose was Remember The Children located on the first floor. This exhibit is about a boy named Daniel and his experience with his family during the Holocaust. This exhibit includes many visuals so that viewers of this exhibit can really get a feel of what it was like for that family and understand part of what they had to endure. It's a way to connect with the people viewing the exhibit and it is engaging which is one reason I want to visit it. Another reason I am interested in it is that it follows a specific family with the perspective of one of the family members so you can connect and learn as your viewing it. It also makes the visit to the exhibit more personal because you learn what they were truly thinking even though it must me imaginable. I cant wait to learn about a topic I am so interested in and to possibly see this exhibit
